Description
A pin-up inspired by Steven Spielberg's 2005 version of H.G.Wells' "War of the Worlds"! I kept adding elements to the picture and now the original file is 10.400px in height! Awesome piece although I prefer the classic 53 version over the 05 Cruise version (although I will admit it's a great film), heck I'll even take the 2005 novel turned film from Pendragon over this, as I detest Cruise soo much (mostly because of his religion) and this film pretty much killed Dakota Fanning's film career for a few years, she hasn't acted in anything since that superhero film Push which came out in 2009 and she fell off the radar, this film also kind of killed Justin Chatwin's career as well (he had the balls (pun intended) to star in probably the worst anime-to-film adaption of all time in Dragonball Evolution).
Also shouldn't Robbie's hat have the Boston Red Sox's famous B symbol on it? (He was a Red Sox fan in the film and his dad had the balls to wear a Yankees hat on-screen, then again they were pretty much in New York/Jersey for pretty much the whole film.)

I looked over the picture and the many comments. Looks like javas turns off the flats layer, sets his BG as and does the shading on multiply mode.Then he does the lighting and turns the flats layer back on... Do you do a similar workflow?

This is glorious! i love the way you capture the actors in your cartoony style (and the alien!) Such interesting ways of lighting here, too, but nothing short of cinematic! I love the little Spongebob backpack! (I actually remember in the movie when she was watching it and the lightning struck)

Thank you so much! I did spend a LOT of time polishing this (maybe even too much - Rachel was drawn back in 2011, man I am so slow + I'm always switching between several projects!). And yes, the SpongeBob bag was inspired by that very scene from the movie! Excellent perception!
As for the skill level... Practice is everything! Four or five years ago you wouldn't have believed how much my drawing skills sucked! I just dedicated a lot of my free time to drawing and these are the results. I still wish to improve, though.
