I was playing some pokemon go with my son and he asked me to draw him pikachu.. just kiddin he asked me to draw charmander but I drew pikachu instead lol... I did a video of it anyone interested?Related content

Charmander can only produce fire... pikachu generates electricity and can cause electric fire.

Out of the perspective of a professional designer: What do you think about most Pokémon's designs? Especially the newer ones? (If you are familiar with them.)

I actually like the pokemon designs , not all of them but there are some really good ones. And when I say good design I mean it relating to the story or the product its designed for. This image was just a study from an image that I found on the internet. It would be cool to try to design my own pokemon !

I sometimes have my little problems with especially the newer designs, mainly starting with Generation 3.
In the world of Pokémon there are no other animals, therefore the Pokémon have to fill that role.
But some of the desings are so "over the top" that I simply cannot imagine the Pokémon to survive in the wild. They often are colourful and bright that they cannot be overseen - not by a predator or a Trainer. Or they have Patterns or symbols on their bodies that do not fulfill any purpose. Or even worse - stuff on their bodies that would just get in the way.
Sometimes the designs are simply implausible to me. A design has to be more than just "cool", right? It has be be functional and believable.
Therefore I think, the designers should try to stay a little more realistic (like they did with the first Generation).
But besides that, there are a ton of good designs as well. No doubt about that.
But who am I, giving tips about design...? I can't even paint.
However, I love your stuff so much, I would love to see some of your own Pokémon designs (and your son probably would, too

Yeah realistically some of them will not seem believable, but we can make up stories so that their design can make sense. Like bright red frogs are that are not poisonous have that color to trick would be predators that they are.
by the way I am going to post up another version of Pikachu ,.. a little bit more of my style when I do concept art
