Thanks to modern materials and fabrics, mega skirts with a diameter up to one and a half times the wearer's height have become surprisingly popular, despite a few drawbacks. For example, when two women so attired meet, they literally cannot scrunch their skirts enough to reach one another's hands...so they will sometimes greet each other by bumping their skirts together in a slightly flirtaceous manner!Inspired by fav.me/dbdpz5b by

I like the size of the dresses. I always find it somewhat challenging to give them a 3D look. I use shading and distorted patterns but sometimes with unsatisfactory results. I should imagine I'll improve, given sufficient time.

It did sometimes seem a century and a half ago when hoopskirts were so popular that 'the bigger, the better'! I once read that in 1857 (?) the city of Trenton, NJ passed an ordinance limiting the size of women's hoopskirts because their size was blocking traffic. I have no idea if it was ever enforced, or how they did so!

I remember reading about those days, too - never heard about the Trenton ordinance, though - hehe, I can see that they may have caused some crowding issues on the streets!
