Description
A lone human walks through the woods alone at night, lamenting how they found themselves here, lost and alone. The chill of the northern winds bites through their clothes, a poor choice for the trek ahead of them. Slowly, a strange sound reaches their ears- The most beautiful violin music they have ever heard. The entrancing melody soothes them, and their feet seem to move of their own accord, carrying them to the source of the music. They reach a clearing, finding themselves at the edge of a lake. Water lilies dot the glowing water, and at the center stands a strange creature dressed in traditional Norwegian garb with water-wrinkled skin and dark veins striping his flesh. His thick tail lashes about behind him as the song reaches its climax, his glowing eyes flashing with determination.
Lost in the music, the human plunges into the water, never to resurface.

Happy belated Halloween! This is my first time being a GA, so I wanted to do something a little special for my first adopt this season.
The Nøkken (other names apply depending on what culture you are referring to him from, but nøkken is the most common version.) is a malevolent water spirit from Scandinavian folklore, a creature who lures humans to their doom by playing his fiddle. He is said to be the best violinist in the world, his music so sweet and enchanting that anyone who hears it would be inclined to drown themselves when they hear it. In some depictions he has a similar set of powers to the Kelpie from Celtic mythology, taking the appearance of a horse with a magically sticky body, and touching it will have you held fast, letting the creatures ride off into the depths to drown you. In another depiction, a man steals the Nøkken's violin (while he is in the form of a horse, coincidentally) and later, when trying to play it, the spirit of the Nøkken takes over his body and he, unable to take the strain of the furious playing, would die from it. Water lilies are also very important to the Nøkken. In one tale, a poor fisherman makes a deal with him- enough fish for his family to never go hungry again, and in exchange his daughter's hand in marriage. The daughter, unwilling to go through with the deal and marry the creature, kills herself. For generations to come, the water lilies are stained red with her blood in the Nøkken's grief for her.
However, this isn't a history lesson, so lets get on to the adopt!
