Aeki (blue), Nar (orange) and Tahnn (grey) from my storyLoi.
This wouldn't happen like this in the story for many reasons, but it shows the situation they are in.

Nar and Tahnn are a couple.
Aeki is Tahnn's childhood friend, yet she is hitting on Nar. Because Nar is sterile, she thinks Tahnn could be nice and "share" him, but she wouldn't do anything too obvious if her friend was in the same room.
Tahnn is very insecure. And inferior to other merpeople by his species' rules.

I wanted it to be at Tahnn's house, but I really suck at indoors background so you get seaweed instead
