truly beautiful.. I love this. Reminds me of an oil spill in a very odd way.. usually rainbows signify "happy", but when used with different lighting, they kind of seem ominous, don't they?

Like when you look at oil up close... there are other colors that sort of "contaminate" the darkness...

This is pretty sweet.

And not sweet in a cupcake sort of way. Sweet in a "Holy snot the sky is rainbow" sort of way. :3

I really like the composition and simplicity of the buildings. They add a good dose of the darker value scale.

there's a program called Lightroom that I use to edit my pictures: [link] (it may seem a bit pricey, but it's totally worth it)

within it, there's a feature called 'graduated filters'. i'm really not good at explaining things, but it allows you to adjust things in a faded, 'graduated' sort of way (like the sky in this pic: [link] )

more info here: [link]

and what i do is kinda go crazy with it

(i don't 'own' any of the things that i've linked to here)

wow thanks that looks like a good program I'm kinda pissed though that it's not in CS4. So Do you know of any other products, maybe a little cheaper, that I could do that kinda stuff with? could I do that with photoshop?

You can. Within the Photoshop bundle, there is a program called "Camera Raw". It's basically the same principle as Lightroom, except a little more "Raw" (excuse the pun). It's not as good looking as Lightroom, but the features are almost the same.
Use Bridge (Adobe Browser, also comes with Photoshop), alt-click on the picture your want to retouch, then click on "Open with Camera Raw" (the picture must be a JPEG, Tiff or a Raw file).
Now, it you want to copy the same effect(you can use the same tutorial by the way), click on the icon shown in this picture.[link]
It does the SAME thing.

sorry for the late reply

i think u could do it in photoshop if you wanted, but it might be a bit more complicated. the thing about lightroom is that it's great if you're a photographer who wants to enhance or touch up your photos, and photoshop is more for if you want to do heavy editing, etc. basically lightroom is a 'lightened' version of ps for those who aren't looking to do any hard-core editing.

a good free program i would suggest is GIMP: [link]

there's also a distribution built to mimic the interface of Photoshop: [link]
