Now that Galaxies is officially defunct, I thought it safe to post some of my favourite illustrations here for posterity sake..! This was also prompted by numerous requests I received over my DA messages (sorry for not responding in like... 2 years.. ToT). A deeper dive into the old stolen rebel data disks yielded some higher res versions of images that I found already uploaded on the net some years back!

Working on this franchise for close to 2 years (~2008-2010) really helped me grow as a creative and allowed me to explore many aspects of the craft-- its not often you get to play the role of illustrator, story-teller and designer within a single commission. It was truly rewarding in hindsight and more often that not, a very humbling experience when you witness the sheer quality and passion of other fellow creatives working on the same project, really inspires you to stretch yourself beyond the usual bounds!

One of my favourites, people have been bugging me for years to locate the higher-res than the versions of this image found online... finally found that one tiny hard disk from my mac days!!! The past 2 days have been a nice walk down memory lane, the many commissioned images and designs that won't see the light of day.

I was very obviously paying homage to the Dark Trooper cover/ad used for Jedi Knight: Dark Forces(~1999). Pretty sure it was Dave Dorman who painted the amazing image. Come to think of it... Battlefield 3's cover poster went for the same vibe with the orange glow on the soldier's breast (only it was far better rationalised with maybe an ammo counter or light emitting element on the Dark Trooper's cannon). It was incredibly tempting to ape Dave Dorman's clever excuse for light and colour for this same image, but did not want to be too disrespectful lol. Plus I thought it didn't quite add to the narrative. Standing in the rain after having smoked a rebel platoon and perhaps the ruins that used to be their outpost, something more 'stoic' seemed more appropriate. After all, I had tweaked enough elements in the reference design given to me(not Mr Dorman's...a much cringier one) around to make it less *coughcough40kcough* and more Storm-trooper tasteful... like how Mr Dorman pushed it.
