I'll have to take your word for it (although I still likes it's lovely) since I don't do anything as complicated as your art. What's a smudge brush? My ignorance is showing now...

Ever use oil pastels? TECHNICALLY you're not supposed to smudge to shade. Think of that in terms of digital. I put down a 'wet' brush then 'smudge' to shade

In digital painting, using the smudge brush is a big poo poo but I say, poo poo to that!
