The 1st Hell - 沸騰地獄 (Futtō-Jigoku): The Boiling Hell
This is the Hell where those who have committed acts of adultery are punished. They are to swim in a hot, spring-fed lake, where they are steamed and boiled.

The 2nd Hell - 洞窟の地獄 (Dōkutsu-no-Jigoku): The Cavern Hell
This is the Hell where those who haven't controlled their greed are punished. They are embedded into growing stalagmites which will eventually consume them.

The 3rd Hell - 森林地獄 (Shinrin-Jigoku): The Forested Hell
This is the Hell where those who haven't controlled their wrath are punished. They are impaled and roasted among the branches of the eternally burning trees.

The 4th Hell - 自殺の地獄 (Jisatsu-no-Jigoku): The Hell of Suicides
This is the Hell where those who have committed dishonorable suicides are punished. They wander throughout a city filled with their fellow sinners, mentally tortured by their regrets.

The 5th Hell - 節足動物の地獄 (Sessokudōbutsu-no-Jigoku): The Hell of Arthropods
This is the Hell where those who have committed acts of theft, perjury, and counterfeiting are punished. They are left victim to venomous spiders and fiendish centipedes.

The 6th Hell - 凍結地獄 (Tōketsu-Jigoku): The Frozen Hell
This is the Hell where those who have committed acts of corruption, deception and hypocrisy are punished. They are frozen solid in the ice crystals that cover this frozen cavern.

The 7th Hell - 血液の地獄 (Ketsueki-no-Jigoku): The Hell of Blood
This is the Hell where those who have committed acts of desecration, such as necromancy, are punished. They drown within a poisonous bog filled with the bones of monsters and demons.

The 8th Hell - 鎖の地獄 (Kusari-no-Jigoku): The Hell of Chains
This is the Hell where those who have committed acts of violence, such as murder, sexual assault and torture, are punished. They are hung on large hooks suspended from the rock ceiling, left to cook in the simmering heat from the 9th Hell. The ones who have committed more violent crimes hang lower than the others.

The 9th Hell - 無限の地獄 (Mugen-no-Jigoku): The Endless Hell
This is the Hell where those who have committed irredeemable acts of blasphemy and betrayal are punished for the rest of eternity. Their souls of the damned burn in a sea of magma with no hope of reincarnation. The Fortress of the Daemonic Dragon (鬼神の龍の要塞), the Shrine of Jigoku-no-Orochi (地獄の大蛇), rests in the center of this infernal sea.
