Description
This incarnation of The Dark Knight is based on a couple of dreams I had last year, separate from my usual Batman universe.

A reflection of the modern world. Bruce Wayne is a self-made millionaire philanthropist who lives in a penthouse suite.
Madness abounds and no one will listen to an ordinary man, no matter how well-intentioned, forcing Bruce to become a symbol. Instead of battling gods and monsters, Bruce creates the Batman persona to fight the monsters masquerading as humans, such as the amoral industrialists and corrupt institutions that turn themselves into monsters of their own accord.
As Bruce Wayne, he helps the downtrodden, using his wealth to push for social reform and funding social programs. As Batman, he battles those who would prey on the fearful.
This more limited Batman has to be more cunning with how he applies his wealth or when he can become the caped crusader. His technology isn't as advanced or as plentiful, but he's resourceful and skilled, with his willpower and altruism driving him into the night on his journey for justice.
