Description 2025 AD - Rural Japan, Earth, Dimension KT-460-C

It's a particularly stormy night here around the local Shinto shrine. In fact, this storm is rather unusual, almost like a vortex that had suddenly appeared in the sky. With the storm raging, the priest and his family, who care for the shrine, are hunkered down to wait it out. There's a deafening boom as a bolt of lightning seems to strike in the rock garden. Moments later, the door slides open. The priest thought at first that it may be a treveler or worshiper seeking shelter from this sudden maelstrom of the sky. However, as he moves to greet the visitor, he sees a young woman, bloodied and injured. The breastplate of her more Western-styled armor appears damaged, even more so when she stumbles forward and collapses. As the woman falls into unconsciousness, the armor and wings fade away into more common cloth, but the injury on her back remains. It would appear as if she'd fallen from a great height and landed on a rock, judging by the wound. Aside from the injuries, the priest notices the odd scales on one of her arms, and the fox-like ears and tail of the woman. Some cosplayer? No, these appear part of her body. Could she really be...? The priest calls his family in for aid and shuts the door. His wife and son move her to a bed as his daughter grabs a first-aid kit.

A few hours later, the storm has subsided, having disappeared almost as quickly as it formed. All seems calm. The woman's various wounds seem to have healed almost miraculously in that time. No normal human would be able to recover from those injuries in a day, let alone several hours. The woman had been mostly stripped of all but her underthings to treat her wounds better, and bandages have been wrapped around her bust to help with the wound previously on her back. Come morning, she begins to stir, her tail and ears twitching a little before she opens her eyes. Unfamiliar with her surroundings, she sits up and looks around, only to be greeted by the wife, who was keeping an eye on her. "You are awake," says the priest's wife, "Are you well?" The half-fox blinks for a moment. Her Japanese was a little rusty, so she took her time to respond, "Don't worry about me, I don't die so easily. Thanks for looking after me, though." She holds her hand up to her collar and a necklace appears. Tapping it once, it disappears again, but it seems to summon garb on her body. Her favorite kimono and accessories that come with it. Not quite traditional, but she loves the stormy pattern on it.

Hearing voices from the room, the priest enters with a fresh meal for the patient. As he places it down, he bows and says, "Oh kitsune, please accept this humble offering." The half-fox cocks her head to the side, responding, "Kitsune?" She was still slightly groggy, so it takes a moment to click in her head before continuing, "Right. You may call me Julie. Is there any way I can repay this kindness?"
"We do not ask payment for assisting a stranger in need. Should you feel you must, a simple blessing on our family is enough."
"I'm not sure I have the power to bless anyone. I'm more of a problem-solver, particularly when it comes to thwarting evil."
At this, the wife chimes in, stating, "If it is evil you are seeking, several travelers that have visited the shrine have told of the Yakuza in the city just North of here. They say the criminals have made deals with oni and other such evil spirits to expand operations."
"Looks like I'm sticking around, then. I need to find my friend, anyway. I can sense him in this world."

Hoo boy, it took a while for me to upload this. Mainly because I kept procrastinating on writing this little insert. I felt like I had to, since this amazing piece deserves it. It's easily become my favorite thing I've ever commissioned.
