Kuroxan and his many poses / moods...Contemplating putting a background on this but, its meant solely to be a character full screen picture shot (primarily for big Kuro face in the middle) for Kuroxans portrait on the eclipse manga site in the character section. I think *kosarai was the one who said leaving the background white puts more emphasis on the character, so um thatβs kind of why I left it alone. Depending on what people say, I might post up a background version (saves PDF file)
5 MILLION zeni goes to the one who can translate what Kuroxan is thinking in the bottom right hand corner!!!
(Hint: Its Japanese slang) Its time for, Fun Facts!!!

-Kuroxans Sword, "Scimarod" blade is entirely black.. it is also cursed, horray!
-The symbol you see engraved in the middle of the sword is also the exact same rune found on the back of Kuro's neck
-Everytime the sword is swung (or used), the engraved symbol lights up, extracting energy from (and too) the wielder of the weapon
P.S: I know the smoke/dust effect on the bottom kuro looks like CRAP!... lemme alone -.-

I like how he looks when he's on the floor. And that sword kicks ass. Sweet expressions! And leave the BG white. If its a charecter emotion/body profile the viewers eyes should be on him not the BG. This is staright from my character boards class and heck....it works.

You seem to the have the proportions down, and a nice variety of actions and moves. But is this a character that you created? Because I have seen many anime guys that look strikingly like this.

I don't have any off the top of my head. All I know is a ninja with an almost comically over-sized sword is a rather familar icon in anime.

Comically over sized swords are typical in practically any gendre of anime... Entering ninja's into the equation, seems less likely.
You might be thinking of Zabuza from Naruto, and I can assure you, no similarities what so ever, specifically if you racked them together side by side...
His sword however isnt comically over sized. In fact, its no wider then a traditional broad sword, and no longer then one as well.
I'd like to see you find a compariable weapon to the one I doodled in my mind.

I think the shading looks really good. Perhaps I might suggest a bit more on the clothes? Just an idea. I think the smoke looks fine. And I really think the sword looks awesome. Good job!

cool drawing, the only thing i dont like its the coloring...tho it's good, cel shading sometimes look too cartoony (maybe that's the point, i dont know) in the forum you've said that you wanted some coloring tips...well, i paint since 4 months ago and im still learning (learning is goood)....if you use photoshop or some other program of that kind you can save yourself a lot of rage-inducing layer work just by setting the opacity of the brush to 30 - 40 % (its what i do) also, maybe you'll want to avoid using default brushes....search in the internet you'll find at least 2 dozen sites where to download brushes for free.

Seriously though. Good work on this, you've got a real good handle on this style. The composition is somewhat disjointed, but I get the feeling you werent going for anything other than a series of poses for your character. Nice work overall
