I was going to add those birds or doves in the sky but i think the cheese factor would have gone through the roof.

something new a three point perspective.

whats the question?

thanks by the way

DeadKnight1 In reply to umbatman [2018-07-16 22:14:46 +0000 UTC]

Well, mainly just the practicality of this castle. I'm willing to shrug this castle off simply for artistic license.

But looking at it from a practical side, one has to wonder what this castle's purpose is, as in its tactical benefits for its location in relation to its surroundings.

There's also the question as to whether it really needs to be a castle at all, as siege weapons can't reach it, there's no good place to shoot the defenders from, and so the only way to siege this castle would be to camp outside its gates, and maintain pressure at the postern. Indeed, simply a manour would suffice.

What kind of enemies is the castle there to defend against?

There's also certain battlements that don't really need to be there, like the crenellations and the machicolations. In fact, most of the castle wall could be left out and its defensive value would be more or less the same. Due to its location, it is in the perfect, most defensible location you could build a castle.

It also seems large for a castle, doesn't it? Castles historically were deceptively small, only consisting of a few rooms, really. If you look at the top-down layout of most historical castles, it becomes clear that they're actually quite simple.

[Layout of Conwy Castle in Wales]
[Layout of Windsor Castle in England]
[Layout of Harlech Castle in Wales]

Of course, none of this is meant to be me saying that I don't like this art; on the contrary I like it a lot. It's simply the part of me that loves castles and castle design that is speaking here.

no problem I understand. Well its based in fantasy.

Ok since you asked alot of questions, let me try my best to answer them or explain my choices for

the design.

the castle is big not just to show the height but i wanted to also show the amount of people that would be  living inside.

its more like a castle of a community or a town, i don't think i could have made it bigger in this perspective.

The castle is said to hold many many treasures, instruments and weapons, but the inhabitants of the castle are peaceful people that are safe guarding those precious relics.

The location of the castle is to show that the people that built the castle always thought about seclusion rather then violence or attack.

ANd its located in a dangerous place indeed as you said it would be almost impossible to stage attacks from far, the point being that only a few can actually make the journey here, and it would take a man of noble heart and courage to get across.

Most who hear the myths of the castle say "ot couldn't exist, how can a castle be there in the mountains and waterfall, any man that would go there would be a mad man"

so the warrior, he is noble at heart and he is own his mission to retrieve the lost crystal of the amdana (a time traveling relic).

well these are illusions that don't exist or have any souls so to put something there which really isn't there is the trick, and the trick to

make connections with the human mind.

I really appreciate changing the angle and putting us in a different perspective. We do not see that very often, probably because it's super hard to do realistically, but you did it. Cheers mate
