Description Another species related to the elves. (not sure how far back that goes, whether its a family or an order of species. Regardless!)
The sphinxes are closer related to the manticores than trolls or elves - they are predators, but live as packs rather than alone.
Their transformative ability allows them to change a single aspect of themselves temporarily (better biting jaws, better running legs), but they have to remove this boon before activating another.
They are fairly intelligent, and the females are a popular pet for very rich human families. Content to stay as pets, they devote much of their time to intellectual challenges, like making up riddles. Some owners like to teach their sphinx to tell these riddles to guests in order to impress them.

However, the male is a lot less agreeable. It will try to establish dominance in the household, and if left unchecked, will pretty much start running the lives of the residential humans (and if its wishes are ignored, it lashes out very violently.)
The eyes turn milky white when the sphinx is feeling aggressive, though this might not be present in all of the species.

Is there going to be more drawings for the sphinxes? I'm asking because you made two separate things for the manticore.

I can't say whether there will be, since my inspiration is sporadic.

I'd need to redo both the manticores and sphinxes considering how old the artwork is.

The design of them seem great although if the manticores and sphinxes are closely related, there could more things similar appearance wise.

Yeah, i'll need to examine it.
I consider their closeness to each other to be on par with, say, tigers and cheetahs, along with different ecological niches pushing them to different bodyforms. (sphinxes being halfway between lion and hyena, in that they hunt in groups and try to harass the target before closing in for the final spurt of speed, while manticores are more bear+tiger, aka ambush predators with strong omnivorous leanings.)
The main problem with both of their designs are that I didn't have a very good grasp of anatomy.
