History
Zira was the first daughter born to Naanda and Scar. She grew up well loved in the Pridelands, although her father was distant, her mother doted upon she and her siblings.

When Mufasa died, Zira mourned with the remainder of the Pride, but she was pleased. She would be her father's heir. Instead, Scar turned Naanda aside, and asked Sarafina to be his queen instead. Within the year they had a son, Mheetu, who Scar named his heir.

Bitter and furious, Zira sought comfort in the young male Chumvi, who had adored her since cubhood. They had a daughter during her father's reign, and she hoped to see her wed to Mheetu. Her rejection burned, but she could not hate her father entirely. When he brought her a newborn cub, explaining that Sarabi had turned it away, she accepted him and nursed him as her own.

Shortly after Mheetu's vanishing and Sarafina's death, Zira had another litter, three males. One was born weak, and died despite her efforts, where Rafiki was none of the Pride knew. The other two were strong, and when she brought them to Scar for their acknowledgement, he took an interest in the youngest cub. Zira accepted his affection and the name he gave her cub - Kovu. Scar soon betrothed Kovu to the eldest of Sarafina's new litter - a pale cub named Vitani - and Zira nursed them all, in place of their mother.

Then Simba returned, and Zira's life fell apart. She hid her cubs in a small den under Pride Rock. First Kovu, then Vitani, and then the rest. As she brought the last cub, she came upon a scene of carnage. A hyena had squeezed into the den, and although she tore it apart with her claws, the damage was done. One of Sarafina's cubs were dead, and Zuberi died, his last breaths soaking her fur in blood.

Perhaps Zira went a bit mad then. Once the battle was over, she stayed away from Pride Rock, she and what remained of her cubs wanting nothing to do with Simba. Chumvi was more reluctant, and although he hunted and kept company with her, he also remembered Simba. As time went on he tried to convince her to return to Pride Rock, but his insistance only made Zira more distant.

Simba knew that the disowned Zira was no threat, but little Vitani was. A coup could be held with her at the forefront, and so he betrothed her to a young male of another Pride. Zira seethed, knowing that Vitani was the true princess of the lands. When Kiara was born, she knew her chance was gone. A son might have been wed to Vitani, but a daughter only ensured her exile.

Zira was not one to take things calmly. She planned carefully, warning Nuka off and handing Bianca over to Sarabi before waiting for Simba to be alone. The attack earned her a scarred ear, the sign of a traitor, and he exiled her.

They ventured on, into new lands ruled by a single male. Although a well-established pride, they had fallen on hard times. Zira dealt with the male herself, and then took over the Pride. The lionesses accepted her with little difficulty, an Zira betrothed Nuka to a lioness within the Pride.
