Rinse and repeaet from last week's Carnage. More time out form the day gig. The first version of this Venom, like the Carnage, was one I did way back in 2014 when I started guesting at cons and it has turned out to be a wildly popular seller at both cons at my art store. I know it has far less to do with my specific version of Carnage which was novel but not revolutionary and far more to do with fan's unconditional love for the Symbiotes. This was also before the middling Venom films, Marvel event crossovers and a flood of collectibles. I'm not sure how many other artists do this but I often re-evaluate and take stock of older work that while it served its purpose at the time it may be its turn to retire entirely or for it to get a fresh coat of paint. If you never do it all the power to you must be nice but I use it as a measure of growth both personally and more often than not, especially in this case, the evolution of the character itself in the pop cult space. Also, Symbiotes are fucking fun to doodle out
