Yes the belief in mythology is not restricted to the ancient religious type as there are any number of self-promoting charlatans such as Graham Hancock selling a revision of the Atlantis ideology, Rupert Shelldrake hawking his paranormal mythology and of course Erich von Daniken's ancient alien belief system. All are simply a means used by those people to profit from those who prefer a pleasing fable and interesting story over scientific reality gained through hard work exactly like those swallowing religious myths.
