The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin (American version)
I saw this movie, and its a very cute story about a little penguin named Scamper. It makes me sad that his dad dies in the russian version by a poacher's rifle gun...that version contains more violent scenes, so I don't watch that version anymore. I like the names in that version though, Lolo is Scamper, while Toto is Gilbert the daddy Penguin.
This is a tribute to them both...I want to think in the american version that when they said "No one was harmed..." that means that Toto survived even if he doesn't show up at all in the movie's ending when Lolo is appointed Leader of the Male Penguin flock.
PS: I DO NOT recommend watching the Russian version of this movie. It has left me with images burned into my head, with how violent the final scenes are.
The American version is alot more gentle and is cute.

i just watched this in the American version i did not know how violent it was when I was a kid.I loved this movie back then I thought it was cute. I did not know there was a Russian version. I just played that scene were his dad was shot I can't believe that was in a kids show. Are there any more scene's like this in the Russian version

Yeah, the violence in that children’sit still bugs me to this day actually, especially since Scamper’s dad was one of my favorite characters, but its what the creators wanted I guess. As far I know, the penguins engaging the poachers is the most bloody and violent part that was omitted in the american version, the most noteworthy violent part being Toto/Gilbert's Death, since the ending of the american dub is extremely edited to the point that Scamper becoming leader over his dad in the ending for no reason makes no sense.
Other scenes I can recall, is Gilbert spanking Scamper after he left home when being told not to, and one scene where Scamper was trying to befriend a baby skua/seagull (Predator birds that would take baby penguins to eat), which to this day, I still don’t understand why that one was cut because it was kinda cute.

right I can't believe much violence was in that movie cuz when I was a kid it was one of my fave's .wow that is crazy they would take that scene out if all he dose is try's to be friend with a baby seagull if that part was not violent at all lol. I still think its a cute moive but not one for kids lol

yay! awesome!! I watched that movie! So cute! *i watched it in russian.. owo so awesome!* the part i don't liked it when the penguins were killed... it was bloody.. and i through it was violent so i stopped watching it.. A year later after that, i just watched it again and i liked it!

but the version i have has Gilbert at the end of the film apointing scamper as the leader. it's not a redone version either It's a old film thats been at my grandma's house for a long long time

I am not sure what version your talking about, but I was talking about the american and original versions. In the American, Gilbert is not seen after the battle with the humans, instead Mr. feather is the one who appoints Scamper as leader.
What version do you have? I would love to see Gilbert in the ending.

i think it's the same as the american version but reused footage of gilbert and scamper reuniting are used with differnet audio. i can't find the copy though but i've seen this version 1,000 times.

I think I've actually seen the American version. That was the movie that had the music done by a band called "Bullets," right? I laughed so hard when that came up in a huge font at the start. But yes, it's a cute movie.

Yes, the music done in the American version was by the band called the Bullets. I find it funny too how they had to make the yellow font so big XD...they really want you to know who they are.

Well, I guess in this case, America actually did a good thing in editing a foreign movie. I might just have to check this movie out sometime. Anyway, great job on the picture! I can honestly say this is one of your best so far

Yes, I believe America did good in some of the edits. But 2 parts that were cut, like Toto Spanking Lolo with his flipper and Lolo talking with a Predator baby chick (Skua bird)...and I thought that was strange they removed it.
We should watch it together sometime (Watch it on youtube at the same time).

If the scenes which were violent were cut out for our american version to make it more kid friendly, my guess is editors thought that the scene where Scamper gets a spanking was too violent to show in our version.

But some American cartoons also have spanking scenes.
And they don't sold retooled versions of Lolo the Penguin only in America. German, Brazilian, Swedish, Danish, Quebec, Arabic, Bulgarian, Serbian, Polish versions are based on the American dub. Interestingly, the German version has some deleted scenes.

I did not say anything about original russian version. I talked about the German version. This version has some deleted scenes: spanking (first link), unedited reaction to the fall of the teacher (second link), the killer whale kills leopard seal (third link), uncut poacher ship wreck (fourth link) and unedited video (but not audio) of the last dialogue (fifth link). Possibly, Germany received not final American version.

They do not laugh in the original. They fall silent in the original! And the teacher did not say anything in the original.
