Actually, I meant to say in the Anime they change sex, and in the Manga they cross-dress.
What I meant is that none of the human characters think it's strange that her hair is ALWAYS blue... even Japanese people need to re-dye their hair...

well I got the sex-changing part, I was just confused about about the hair. Because in animes, in general, they have all kinds of hair colours, blue, pink, purple, green, you name it, so that's why they don't pay attention to it, I think: because colorful hair is standard, Ami is not unique in this (just think of Chibiusa, Michiru and many of the villians -they have all type of hair colour that are not natural). That's the thing typical for Japanese anime, I think, all hair colour is normal
