Thank you!
He really liked it. I turned it into a sticker so he could decorate his card box and after he saw it he requested another one. I don't think he's gone to a game night yet tho but I just know he's gonna brag to everyone in his group. XD The thought makes me really happy.

Yeah, it's really cool for "real" people to be interested in my stuff. I always expect people to not think it's art unless it's realism haha

Oh my gosh Ajani looks amazing!I mean they all look amazing, but very seldom do you see good cute art of Ajani, and he's my favourite 0v0

Thanks! I'm really happy how Ajani turned out too. I've never drawn a lion person before but I think all the practice I did with bears helped a lot.
I was kinda tempted to make a chibi of Ajani too after seeing the Pop doll but I felt that would be too much. XDD

I mean I'm not gonna say that more chibi Ajani wouldn't be fantastic buuuut... XD
I myself have been meaning to to MTG fanart(especially of Ajani) but I keep getting sidetracked. >.>

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-24 16:27:37 +0000 UTC]
Is that a common thing? I just google searched and most of that art was the one that's on the card and another with him swinging around in the jungle? I'm guessing another version of the card...? The only chibi I saw was of the Pop figure.
You should ddoooooo iiittttttt that characters are really pretty and I'm sure you'd do great with it! The only thing is that it doesn't really seem like a thing that's easy to monetize?

princelywitch In reply to undead-alien [2015-02-24 16:33:13 +0000 UTC]
There's at least three... no I think four different official cards, and a few more than that that feature art with Ajani in it(or a white lion presumed to be him, since there aren't any other white lions of the anthro variety in MTG so far as we know).
And Wizards is actually like... really chill about their copyright stuff? Like tons of people do altered art of cards and sell prints of fanart, and from what I've seen Wizards actually encourages it? I think they know it helps the community grow and whatnot, and since they have all their profits in the cards and official merch I think they don't really care as long as you don't take the official art and use it or anything(nevermind how annoyed the artists would be XD).
Either way, I think I will at least draw Ajani and my other favourite, Sorin. Then I'll decide whether or not it's worth it to do more. ^_^;
ugh also I am so sorry I can be really long-winded when I think I know what I'm talking about ;>.>

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-24 23:11:42 +0000 UTC]
Well, I meant drawing him as a chibi? Is that an overused thing?
It's really cool that Wizards is so relaxed with their copyrights. I just meant that it didn't really seem like something that you could make money off of art wise? Like people's interest. But maybe I'm wrong. I'm not really part of that community so I don't see much of it anywhere. Most of what you see has to do with the cards so I feel most the interest is there?
I think it'll be cool to draw those two! Good luck in your endeavor!!

Not really, like I said, mostly you see chibi art of Jace(the fan favourite =_=; ) and nobody else.
There are definitely people who would buy stickers, and I imagine it's possible to make custom deck boxes and similar stuff if I find the right materials!
Thanks a whole bunch for encouraging me, now I just have to stop being lazy. XD

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-25 14:45:03 +0000 UTC]
I see...... Well I probably won't be doing anything else MTG related unless I'm commissioned. There's just too many cards and I have no idea what's popular, and I'm sure it depends very heavily on the person/what deck they use. I would have to become solely a MTG artist to gain a following!
I guess it wouldn't hurt keeping the sticker tho. Someone might want to buy it eventually. XD Might even do well selling at an anime convention. I have absolutely no idea.
I'm glad you feel encouraged!

princelywitch In reply to undead-alien [2015-02-25 14:50:06 +0000 UTC]
*coughs* May or may not be considering an MTG related commission at some point. >.>
It is really heavily dependent on what you play usually, though some people like characters that have nothing to do with their colours or playstyles, usually you won't find someone who will buy merch beyond the pop! dolls of a character outside their colours.
I'm not sure about the following for conventions you attend, but there's usually at least one booth in the dealer's room at the ones I go to that's wholly dedicated to MTG and they do pretty well, and usually several of the artist's alley booths will have something MTG related(though it's usually dice jewelry) so I think the sticker wouldn't sell poorly, at the very least. :3

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-25 15:01:25 +0000 UTC]
I would be alright with that haha
I've actually never sold at a convention before. All the major ones are impossible to get into and it's very difficult to find smaller cons/find one that has a staff that will answer your questions before they become irrelevant. But then I'm limited to where I can go because I don't have a car so then there's travel costs and living accommodations and taking time off of work..... I just haven't been able to make it work quite yet. XD But there's always my online store. ;D

I totally get you on that, though my trouble lies partially in getting the time to actually get products together to sell. ^_^;
I hope you do eventually, though!

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-25 15:40:25 +0000 UTC]
I hope so too! In the meantime, I'm stocking up on merch that I can also sell online. That way I'm not all rushed and junk.
You'd be surprised tho! Once you start getting into the mindset of prints, you'll find that you don't have to have a huge fancy piece for it to look right. Almost anything looks 100000% better once printed.

I'm usually super lazy and just do lone figures with transparent backgrounds, especially since really I haven't had much money to even make prints(nevermind that backgrounds I'm pretty sure are the actual devil). ^_^;
I am working on a few for the Tolkien fandom though, because there is nowhere near enough cute merch for them. ^_^

undead-alien In reply to princelywitch [2015-02-26 00:55:13 +0000 UTC]
Even things that have really simple backgrounds, like a single color or a pattern, can make successful prints.
"Ruby Red" is probably one of my most successful prints but I'd say it's one of the ones I put the least amount of effort into. It all depends.
Tolkien stuff sounds fun! I look forward to it!
