Description Ugh I've been working on this the last three days. I just HAD to pick a character so.... asymmetrical... haha.

For my second animation ever, I gotta say, I'm pretty proud about how it turned out! I wanted to do more clipping layers on the lineart and I wanted to clean it up so it could be transparent... Buuuuut I'm not used to working on a project this long, aaaaand I was getting tired working on nothing but this for the last three days, aaaaand I got commissions to do aaaaand blah blah blah excuses.

Anyway I've never actually played Kid Icarus before. I'd love to some day... maybe next time it goes on sale in the 3ds marketplace! I love Lady Palutena. Her personality in SSB4 really stands out. I'm terrible at fighting with her, but she's a cool character. Spent hours getting the hidden dialogue with her and Pit when I got SSB4.

One other thing; I'm not sure how Lady Palutena can move like she can in the gif. With real physics she'd lean back and since nothing is holding the staff she'd just fall on her butt... Howeverrrr we'll say for the purposes of this gif she can defy the laws of physics because she's a goddess

tell me how did you did to make the character so consistent?
I mean the proportions because it ends up going inconsistent for me.

While I was roughing out the keyframes for this one, what really helped me keep it as consistent as I could was drawing a flat, horizontal lines for where the head, arms, and legs should go. It's tough imagining where things go in 3D space so you've got to give yourself some guidelines to help your brain make sense of where everything goes.

Here's kind of an example of what I mean

Just work on the most important frames first, the frames that show what the character is doing and where it will be going. Make sure those are the most consistent frames because if your keyframes are off model, you between frames will be even more off model.

I'd also suggest asking more experienced animators for help. This and the peach gif are really the only two experiences that I have animating, so the knowledge I can provide is limited! I appreciate the question though. Good luck!

I love the playful, adorable appeal. Sadly the animation cuts for me.

Aww! Adorable!

The staff has a little 3D effect going on. Nice work!

I don't see the problem, she can already levitate and her staff can too.

Also, this is adorable.

So adorable!  Palutena happens to be one of my all-time favorites as well, in general.  It's nice to see her to cheerful and silly! <3  Even a Goddess needs to play around a bit here and there.

This is awesome!
Palutena is one of my favourite characters in Smash, and I love her in Kid Icarus: Uprising even more.
