Description Doomsday Device

One for the Cartoonish department I guess. I should really get myself a life some day..

...one of kandinsky's phases first featured these matrix-concepts...I can't remember the name he chose...you are channeling kandinsky...

Or perhaps I've been channeling the same dark forces Kandinsky used to? I am very fascinated by those early abstractionists and their surroundings. The western view on the Russian revolution is purely political, the poor against the tsar, but to many back then, both in and outside Russia, it had spiritual dimensions of eschatological proportions: they believed they were involved in creation of a New Earth! Many of those early abstract artists honestly believed that the spiritual power of their art was capable of de-materializing the Universe itself! It was a totally insane time, driven by a borderline psychotic level of optimism that is very difficult to imagine today. But that's precisely what makes it so fascinating!

Actually liked the first Matrix movie... bizarre/sardonic take on society. But the other two sucked ass!

The way I remember it, it may have indeed start out that way, but then it turned into this special effects showcase with a storyline that much even less credible and convincing than that of the average SF fantasy like Star Wars. Though I have to admit I'm fairly allergic to special effects in general, especially the computer-generated ones. I'm most sensitive to timing, with Adams Family Values being the absolute canonical masterpiece in that respect, with its micro-second sense of timing of motion and narrative. I love stuff like that. Can't really be bothered with technological "achievement" and visual spectacle as an alternative to a decent story, credible acting and proper narrative, it quickly bores me.

Do you mean The Matrix? That was one visit to the cinema where I felt like asking my money back! Only Good Will Hunting was even worse of a monstrosity.
