So does bending over, so does getting pregnant, so does eating a meal. The human body, a woman's body in particular, is designed with organs moving, in mind.

The only organ that doesn't react well to being shifted, is the brain. Look how that's handled. It has it's own little container up there away from everything else.

True. Jet there is a huge health difference between moving organs, what bending over does, and squeezing organs, as you do, but I guess my words fall on deaf ears. It's your body so do as you wish, but don't lie to us, and yourself, about it's unhealthyness.

Naw. Google it dude, and don't read 15th century text books about health either. Google MRI scans and shit. You can hate something because of the way it looks, but if medicine is against your point on health and you continue to hammer on about it, it's your ears that are deaf dear.

First, for sure, I ain't a dude.
Second, I don't need to google something that I can extrapolate from common sense.
Third, if it makes you more comfortable, here are some qoutes anyways (only gatherd in like 5 minutes):

"The volume of the lungs diminishes and the tightlacer tends to breathe intercostally – that is, with the upper portion of the lungs only, rather than the whole. [...] Due to the lower portion of the lungs being used less there is often a stereotype of mucosal build-up there"

"The compression of the stomach reduces its volume, and tightlacers find that eating too much gives them indigestion and heartburn; foods like carbonated drinks and beans can easily cause trapped wind."

"Wearing a corset for a very extended period of time can result in muscle atrophy and lower-back pain. The pectoral muscles also become weak after extensive tight lacing."

"Wearing a corset regularly (especially in the heat and without a liner underneath) can potentially cause skin problems which can become worse if you don’t treat it properly and take a break from the corset."

"So here I am, a corset cheerleader, telling you that wearing corsets does carry some risks. If you tell me that you plan to wear a corset or that you already wear corsets, I trust that you have already done extensive research on corsetry (from multiple sources), that you are aware of corset health risks or side effects of corsets"

Fourth, I don't need to discuss this, but giving a distorted picture of the facts to those who do not know better is dangerous.

Firstly, for sure, dude isn't a gendered term. It's a colloquial term of address and is gender neutral.
Secondly, why didn't you google in the first place?

Yes, it can compress your lungs. That's why my corsets are custom made to not put pressure on my ribs. I can stick both of my hands between my corset and my body. It's also not a huge deal to have the lower part of your lungs compressed. Even though I personally don't, the waist trainers who do have that are still restricting their breathing less than someone who inhales smoke regularly.

Yeah, you eat less and you're more careful about what you eat. Sort of like going on a diet, or just being aware of food intake... How is that a bad thing?

Yeah, this is why I do extensive core muscle training, and go on and on about how important it is to EVERYBODY who asks me about waist training, not just comments on a photo about how it must be damaging to me specifically.

I always wear liners, and I've got a skincare routine. Sorry but this problem is also common among people who wear BRAS. So I guess you just forgot that skin sometimes reacts to it's surroundings.

You just quoted Lucy. One of my best friends and the person I direct people to when they ask waist training advice to me, a model, who's job it isn't to educate. Just checking those where her direct words and not someone ripping her off... Yes. Yes that's Lucy.

The issue isn't me saying "The tightness of a corset isn't a problem." because IT ISN'T A PROBLEM. THE PERSON DIDN'T ASK ABOUT STAFF INFECTIONS OR MUSCLE ATROPHY. If they did I would have responded with the relevant information above. The issue is that people assume corsets are terrible for you when they are not. There are risks associated with everything we do in life. If you choose to wear heels you're causing your feet and tendons far more damage than a corset will cause you, but I don't see you running to every model who's wearing heels and saying "YOU'RE DAMAGING YOUR BODY, YOU FREAK!" You don't do that because heels are commonly accepted in society. I bet you've even worn them once or twice because you like the way they look and make you feel. For which, I do not judge, even though you're doing damage to yourself and putting yourself at increased risk of accident.

If you didn't come at me with swords drawn you might have found this information out from me without bullshit, but you claimed I was a moron who was lying to myself and to others. So yes, I'm not going to politely explain corsets to you, as you clearly don't care, you care about judging someone and feeling justified in your judgement rather than the truth of the matter.

*thumbs up* way to be exactly what society wants you to be, a scared judgmental prick.

I didn't wrote my comment because you are wearing corsets, or heels or what ever the like, I was writing the comment because you were belittling the possible problems caused by it with saying 'organs are made to be moved' without to at least remark that it can indeed affect your loungs, skin, muscles ect. if you don't take care. And yes, if a girl with heels would claim that wearing them would be no problem then I would indeed comment as well, even though they are "commonly accepted in society". But I guess no one would claim souch a thing since everybody already knows the risks about heels. With corsets it's different, people don't commonly know the problems caused, which makes it even more important to point them out and not to gloss over them.

But as I said before: I don't need and I don't wish to discuss this.

All I wanted was to point out that there are risks, since there are heedless persons out there who might misinterpret stuff like this as "Okay, she seems to know her stuff and she's saying it's all right for your organs, let's go and buy the tightest corset I can squish my body into and wear it all day, hooray". As a public person, to what this site makes you, one has to take some responsibilities and eliminate the chance of souch misinterpretations.

Hugs!

Yeah, people here are very respectful. It is less so when I am off base, and in Japan, but I think that's just because they are so not accustomed to seeing tall chubby Caucasian ladies with very large chests and little waists.
It is not offensive, but they do stare a lot.

It's not as narrow as it looks.
But thank you very much.
I am not in pain, it's limiting in my movements, but it's more comfortable for my back than not wearing a corset.

underbust In reply to ares12 [2012-10-09 20:12:52 +0000 UTC]

Where are your lungs?
If your answer is: My waist... Then you should probably consider consulting a doctor.
No but seriously, I can breathe just fine, and it's a silly question that I get ALL THE TIME.
Movies would like you to believe that corsets are a thing of oppression, and that they are horribly uncomfortable and made to suffocate. They aren't.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaturnTears In reply to underbust [2012-11-08 06:43:35 +0000 UTC]

I thought the ones in movies are usually corsets that are up to the chest, like just almost above the breasts, kinda pushing them up. You're just wearing a waist-corset, right? Or is what I'm talking about different? Or not existent at all... xD Sorry.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

underbust In reply to SaturnTears [2012-11-08 06:50:40 +0000 UTC]

Underbust and Overbust.
Underbust sits as it states, under the bust. It barely compresses the ribcage at all, and does sexy breathing restriction.
Overbusts do restrict a little, but not all that much. Not as much as movies like us to believe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaturnTears In reply to underbust [2012-11-08 15:18:50 +0000 UTC]

Ohhh. Okay.
I wear belts around my waist, just 'cause it's what I do, and yeah, that's not suffocating at all xD. But depending on how tight it is, when you're eating, it just starts to hurt, and untying them gives me the sense that I can breathe better, but that's because when I breathe, I use the stomach rather than the chest or chest and stomach. If that makes any sense.

Yeah, movies always exaggerate things. I mean, it really doesn't make much sense that women would wear it if it was suffocating. I guess they just try to discourage it somewhat because of how it can mess up your organs inside when you wear it for looong periods of times, like years and years.

You're really nice looking, though. That hair-cut looks good on you, and I normally don't like the straight-bangs cut at all. You have a nice sweet face =3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

underbust In reply to SaturnTears [2012-11-09 00:50:28 +0000 UTC]

It doesn't mess up your organs. It moves them, but so does pregnancy. I could go on, but I shant.
The harm with corset wear, is when you use it on a child. It prevents the bones and organs from developing properly. You don't want to ever put a corset on until you are a fully developed adult. Yes, that even means that at like 16 you could be doing massive harm. That's the big nono in corsetry.
But some people still do it. We do a lot to ourselves to reach the aesthetic we want.
