I love it! While I like Nightmare Moon as villain and having Luna as my top fav pony, it would be interesting to have Celestia being the villain.

I haven't tried looking much into it. All I know is the Lunaverse (at least, I THINK that's the one where Luna and Celestia have different roles, Trixie was Luna's student, and she and her other BG pony friends are the new mane 6).

That's assuming that the ponies don't banish them to the Sun and Moon. I'm assuming, somehow, the ponies managed to save themselves by sealing both of them into their respective bodies with the Elements of Harmony.Β
I'm interested to see how the ponies would cope over the millennium without the parent-like guidance of an immortal ruler, and traumatized too, as the sisters in that scenario haven't so far abandoned then as outright TURNED ON THEM, via inevitably devastating their very kingdom trying to kill each other and forcing the mortals to banish them away. How do you think the ponies would cope having been abandoned, betrayed and forced to stand up on their own?

Only problem is really, celestial looks a tiny, tiny, tiny bit masculine rather than feminine. I still love this though!

Actually, if the daytime lasted forever, the water would eventually completely dry up, and the world might eventually become a complete desert.

Not really accurate. Clouds can still form during the daytimeΒ to block out the sun and provide rain. All that evaporated water has to go somewhere, after all. And then there are aquifers as well. At worst underground water sources would just be depleted faster than usual thanks to the unrelenting heat, but there would still be sources of water.
Eternal night, however, immediately presents a severe energy shortage to all photosynthesizing plants. Pretty much every land-basedΒ ecosystem would be wiped out once the immediate stock of plants were eaten or otherwise destroyed.

Eventual sun cancer sounds a lot better than the entire cessation of photosynthesis. It's a really important part of the whole ecosystem thing.
