The Anouki of New Hyrule, a race of people from the two Zelda games Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks: zeldawiki.org/Anouki . They were recently announced as a new playable race in Hyrule: Total War so I thought I'd put the concept art of them up after being encouraged by some friends.The original Anouki from Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks looked something like the weird love-children of Inuits, Teletubbies, and deer with a decent dose of wackytastic injected for good measure. By that sentence you can probably tell I'm not a big fan of them at all, so when they were demanded to be playable I figured they'd need a massive, massive visual overhaul. Of all the races introduced into Hyrule: Total War they've probably seen the biggest makeover compared to their canon counterparts.

This is the greatest redesign of a Zelda race I've seen. This feels like the first time I saw the Rito in Breath of the Wild. It's just epic. I'd love to see this new-looking Anouki in a The Legend of Zelda game. BRILLIANT, EPIC, GORGEOUS.

These designs are pretty damn bitchin', I gotta say.
To me the Anouki always looked like an amalgamation of every 'cute' arctic animal that's you see in Christmas specials and hallmark cards.Β
They have:
-reindeer antlersΒ
-seal faces
-I remember seeing a grandpa with walrus tusks
-they look kinda like penguins in their parkas
-they also have penguin like feet.
Your version makes them look noble. Cheers dude.

I used to like the canon design for the anouki. Now I can never appreciate anything less than this epic piece of amazingness.

Maybe if Nitendo includes then in a TP-style Zelda game, they will probably be redesigned to something less ..eh..silly than what we have in the games they appear.

wow impressive. i think you should add some skyward sword races such as the mogmas or parella into hyrule total war. some visual changes would have to happen though.

I thought the Anouki were adorably ridiculous to look at, which in my opinion at the time is what gave them their charm. Β Your version here looks pretty impressive, and for a more realistic Hyrule appears rather fitting.
Any chance that their age-old enemies, the Yooks, will be getting an appearance perhaps as a merc race?

Actually it'd be interesting if you made concept art of a more realistic Malladus. Β I always thought he was quite an interesting villain, even though the game was rather goofy in appearance.

They look great! What is going to be their faction's specialities? Heavy Infantry? Mobile shock infantry? Missile? Economy?

Doing really well in the snow is a plus for them, since most of the races in the game have some nasty snow penalties. They are a pretty nasty Anti-Cavalry race too.

The original just looked like a bunch of kiddy toys. This one actually looks like a diverse race.

I looked them up. I don't think they look... TOO bad... One thing that annoys me about this kind of thing is taking races and completely redesigning them to something that doesn't particularly look like the originals at all.
I have mixed feelings about this. My only real annoyance is that they barely look like the originals. This design is completely and totally epic, though, so points for that. I just feel that this design is better as a new race.

I think the only real changes were that I got rid of the foot flippers, which these Anouki actually have but they are things they wear rather than biology, and I made them more deer like rather than human like. Other than that they still have the same coats and antlers I suppose.

I... don't know how to feel about those guys. I don't mind the cute stuff, especially considering that Kokiri and Gorons were already 'a bit cut and silly' anyway, but that older design is still a bit, eh, I dunno.
Either way, this redesign is beyond awesome.

Once again, you know how to take ANYTHING from LoZ, and relace it with an EPIC flavor
