Tech and Rev had just had another fight over whether to keep the little hatchling that Rev has named Fiona. Tech retreated to a rocking chair he inherited from his grandparents with a soothing book of poetry; he desperately needed the calm right now. Minutes into his reading, a little yawn announced the presence of the baby bird.

"Daddy?"

Tech nearly dropped his book. One of his fears--that Fiona would never call him daddy--immediately diffused.

"Daddy, rockabye?" she chirped softly and Tech's heart melted. He opened his arms and the little one dragged her yellow blanket with green and red stars up onto his lap.

"Between the dark and the daylight,
When the night is beginning to lower,
Comes a pause in the day's occupations,
That is known as the children's hour."
