I think this piece piece utilities very suitable, soft-styling of texturing (fur, rock, even eyes) that works well with the slight sketchiness of the background trees. The soft light from the front also works well.
The rocks in the front especially are interesting in their chunky, large-stroked manner of painting. For the whole, this piece is composed of larger, soft strokes that improves the feel of a soft, possibly windless night. The fog adds the needed 'light' contrast.
The only point I'm a little confused on is the question of which direction exactly the light is coming from? At first, it seems the light is in front of the cat. Then it also seems there is a light source behind the cat, hence the sharp highlights on the fur.
For a note, I don't think the sharp highlights work with this piece, as most other areas were painted with soft, larger strokes. The pen-type white strokes on the edges of the cat's body look unnatural and odd. If the entire piece used sharp, thinner strokes (more graphic), it may have worked properly. Maybe if the sharp highlights could be turned into soft strokes like the other parts of the piece it might fit better?
Either way, I question the light sources. Is the fog bright because of the light in front of the cat? Or is there a second light source behind the rock? Outside of this, I think this is a well-done and lovely piece. Charming choices for color, the trees, the night sky with the stars, and even the touch of purple on the front of the rock.
