I finally got this guy because I really wanted a Pre-war Megatron, but I just didn't really like his drill thing mode that looked like either the jet mode poorly modified to be a silly drill vehicle, or a dangerous sex toy.

I made some changes so that with a little difference in the transformation he'd have a more practical mining vehicle mode, which also makes more sense with the cannon end attached in alt mode, and differentiates his drill tank mode a lot more from the jet his more traditional Megatron form turns into.

Also painted the red cockpit section gunmetal so it wouldn't stand out so much, because I felt that an obvious cockpit worked much better for the jet mode than a big drill section on a mining vehicle.

For his other more standard Megatron mode, I wasn't crazy about the entire cannon front being red. It made me think of the orange ends they put on toy guns so cops wont shoot kids with toys quite so much. I prefer my toys be more hazardous to me and to children, so I painted the end black for a slightly more traditional look of a Megatron arm cannon and slightly less of a nerf gun look. I left the red parts on the top and bottom though, and I like how it looks more in both bot and jet mode.
