Hi, Long time no see
I have been painting alot of grass lately in my environments, but its fun.

Here are my brushes from Ps Cs4, they might work with other versions too, they are Tool Presets, so u gotta load them in the tool preset tab or whatever its called, you find it in Window->Tool presets.
The reason I used it like that is because its just better way to orginize the brushes, you can also customize the Flow and opacity and it will remember them, and last you can hotkey each brush by recording an action with you selecting that brush.

Hope that works, As for the brushes I dont use many fancy brushes mainly the chalk and the round bruhses.
The color dodge brush works great if u work on 1 layer, or just ctrl+shift+c and than ctrl+v and u will get a flat version of the painting if u work on many layers.
Signature brush I use yeh for my signature
The Flat streaky brush is the rush that probably has the most painterly look to it, I sort of like to use it.
Transparant Soft brush is an intressting one,The look and feel of it is more like painter I think.
Also last thing, try out the smudge brush in the preset, u have to select the smudge brush tool first, its called, Soft smudge 2 and Textured smudgee, the best part of them is they dont lag, but takes some practice to use right, dont go to close to corners as it will ghost ugly marks.
