i read your wordsand i wondered what they looked like
coming out of your mouth
if you whispered them under your breath as you
philosophied
as i do
in my dreams, my heart started to race
not knowing
if your eyes exhumed a subtle glow
as you pored over the perfect
part of speech
or if reality had found the fissure by insecurity
and shined harshly into orbs i had never seen
but hoped to shyly peer into
i didn't mean to blind you
not even in my vagary
it was me that was supposed to shine
i can still feel the dampness on my neck
beads of anxiety, a nervous
longing
perhaps it was the tension being
wrung from the humid air
