In a tip of the hat to one of my favorite pin-up photographers ~vivavanstory I bring you the first print from the series Hot Metal.IMPORTANT NOTE: We had a safety coordinator standing by the whole time and all appropriate cautions were taken. Do not try this at home without professional assistance! Miss Pinky (who had never before handled an acetylene torch) was a great sport and, no, she didn't look at it for more than ½ a second or so.

one i can't wai to get my own rebel xti! two, there is a rhyme we have when working with acetylene/oxygen "A before O or else you exploed". three thats what pinup should look like.

truly a great shot, I like it... This pyromaniac is VERY pleased... ^^ (being that I was driving a woodburner through some weird thing that popped on my finger O_O)

Yay subject matter, in theory I'll be doing a shoot cocktail dress and welding torch, I figure meter without the torch and just let it burn in right?

I set the camera on full manual and worked with a fixed f-stop of 3.5 (my lowest on that lens) because it was quite dark without the torch) and then adjusted the exposure time accordingly checking my LCD every so often. I also braketed each shot +/- 1 stop in 3 shot bursts. But I did adjust with the torch on because I would be afraid of over exposure otherwise. Yes, the torch would be bright white but it ALSO casts light on the subject as well. Had I metered with auto-exposure with the torch *off* her breasts and face would also be overexposed/blasted.

whoa. She looks just like Rosie the Riveter from the WWII era posters by Norman Rockwell. I love it. She's a beautiful model and this is a really fun series. I'll have to get at least one print!

looks like the case where the calendar girl on the garage wall materializes when they are all gone gome for a bit of play with the hot stuff herself.... yowch!
