The Glass Slipper
by Rayli

Silver moonlight shimmered upon me
The moment that I appeared
Blessed to hold that slender foot
A gift of a woman much revered

A night to be remembered
Where true love would begin
I would carry her across the dance floor
I would lead her straight to him

Uncertain steps down new terrain
A golden heart unbroken
When midnight fell and true love fled
Alone on the stair, I was the token

The only link, to the Prince a key,
To unlock his love’s dark secret
I mocked the struggles of the unworthy
Tasked as I was to stop love’s regret

Finally the time had come
That slender foot returned to me
True love overcame evil hearts that day
And lo’, I had been the key
