I’m a simple person: I see nature photographs, I click. I’m getting totally sidetracked from my original mission, but just wanted to say you have an eye for movement, and for really nice nature shots.
The gentle fog and color palette really make this a surreal capture.

My problem with trying to photograph long stretches of horizon, is that is usually ends up static. The clouds and their reflection really help the eye to keep moving along this gorgeous landscape. I’m a little jealous of you standing witness to this sight. It looks like it’d be one to remember!

Hi, I’m from Project Comment and this artwork is visually striking because of its realism. One of the key strengths of this piece is the reflection effect to depict the sky in the lake. It is really a good mirror image and kudos for whatever art technique you used to pull that off! Another asset of this piece is the vibrancy of the sunlight that captures the early morning hours. The light mist or fog coming off the lake in the left hand side of the image is well done because it is a subtle and yet powerful. You can almost picture someone going out for an early morning boat ride or fishing. The mist also draws attention to what I think is a boat or pier in that same area of the image.

Having said that, there are a few minor inconsistencies and areas to improve on. As mentioned before, I was not sure if that is a boat or pier on the left hand side of the drawing. So I would recommend more clearly defined objects to reduce vagueness on their identity. Similarly, some of the small black marks on the lake appear to be leaves, while others appear to be the reflection of birds in the sky. However, since no birds are visible in the sky (maybe they are off camera), it is again a bit vague. The other enhancement could be toning down the sunlight reflection because the reflection seems as strong as the actual sunlight – I feel the actual sunlight should be brighter and more colorful compared to the reflection. Perhaps also consider adding a few shimmering or shiny ripple effects on the lake to show weather texture.

In conclusion, and as others have commented, the overall effect is one of peace and quiet. This artwork shows a good eye for capturing nature and is a powerful piece.  I also like the short narrative you wrote to accompany the artwork which is poetic and stirring. Great work on this!

The image is peaceful, serene, and just lures you in. I like how the surface of the water is flat and gives that perfect mirror effect of the sky. Untouched and disturbed. The perception of the angle is a great shot, capturing the lighting, balances the atmosphere. As well as the wide shot of the scenery is perfect.

I like the slight rise across the image of the horizon

Thanks! I left it alone as a no-edit. So whatever was there was present during the taking.

Wow, that is beautiful. I don't know if this was intentional, but I am a little curious about how the water doesn't appear to be as glossy as I usually see in photographs, is that simply mist/time of day sort of thing, or maybe just something with my computer monitor/resolution. In any case, you did a wonderful job.

I was astounded as well because that scene is exactly how I saw it in person. No shimmer just blanket reflection. It is a no-edit photograph so it's a natural as can be while still taking a pic.

Okay, so a time of day/position of the sun sort of thing. That's really cool. I'm just so used to photographs always being taken at high noon if you will so that unless it was obviously cloudy, the non-shimmer seemed kind of weird at first glance. doesn't help that I was commenting at like 11 o'clock at night.

Things definitely show differently depending on your natural light source. Think about taking a photo in a studio and you have a water element to be included. You need to make sure your light source is not refracting off the surface right? Unless you want it.. point being you want to control.

Think of the sun as a huge version of a studio light source. Certain times of the day also help you take your picture in the palette you wish for. Look into that some.

I might just do that, I know a little bit about photography, but only on the level of an amateur home-hobby (take some nice photographs while on vacation sort of thing).
