That's the case with some of my robot Pokemon characters actually, since about 5 of them were originally organic beings, all converted for different reasons.

Pretty much, well save for two, but that was because they were feral, wild Pokemon that were granted full sentience upon conversion and can now talk and such. None of my robots were brainwashed, nor are they evil, because I think that's cliche.

Yes, that cliche, it bores me because I don't like how robots in fiction are universally depicted as being evil by default. It's like good bots like Optimus Prime and Mega Man don't even exist.
