why is it that for guys people want them to age and see "character," but with women no one ever wants to see "character," they always have to be young.

Depends on a lot of different things, which change depending on who you ask. If I was straight, I would personally prefer to see a bit of character on a woman which is something that only comes with age, and in general also regard women with curves as being attractive (visually). That whole modern approach with the stick-insect look? Ugh.

With males it is a genetic imperative to seek out young and virile women as they stand the best chance of producing healthy children, so perhaps that is why young, generically attractive women are so popular.

Me, I like attractive young guys - eye-candy is good But then I also have a thing for older guys with a bit of character. As men remain fertile for longer than women, there have been studies showing that a significant number of women tend to gravitate toward older, attractive men which is again probably related to genetics.

It's all statistics at the end of the day
