Description Chapter Four
She is standing alone on Bad Wolf Bay — although she calls it Torture Beach now, crying by a little stone.
Suddenly, a red-haired woman appears behind her, and says in a Scottish accent, “A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world.”
“Who are you?” asks Rose.
“Amelia Pond, and here’s my message: He always returns, so never you fear. Sometimes it’s moments, other times fourteen years. Be patient and wait. I did, and he came. If he loves you — and he does — for you he’ll do the same.”
With that, the red-haired woman fades away.
Months later, she’s on Torture Beach again, when a new person appears, this one with insanely curly blond hair and a generous figure. Her voice is deeper, smokier than the last one, but the first words are the same: “A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world.”
Before Rose can ask the new woman who she is, the curly-haired woman says “I’m River Song, otherwise known as Melody Pond… it’s a long story with many spoilers. But my message is: There are very few moments fixed in time. Your life holds one, but it’s good in design. I can’t really tell you how or when, but you and your love will be together again.” And the new woman, River or Pond or whatever, fades away into mist as well.
Another few months later, a new figure appears. Darker reddish hair than Amelia’s, and Rose recognizes her immediately as Donna Noble.
“Donna?” asks Rose.
Donna puts a finger to her lips, the way Rose did once with her Doctor so long ago. “A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world: You aren’t the only one he lost that day. I couldn’t handle the metacrisis, so he had to take my memories away. But I heard one last of his thoughts before my mind went black: He will do whatever it takes to get his beloved back.”
Rose begins crying, not realizing until now that the Doctor lost Donna as well on that day, and Donna too fades away.
Another figure appears just after Donna fades, and she too is familiar to Rose: Martha Jones.
Rose knows the drill by now. She smiles at Martha and listens to the next message. “A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world: After the Crucible, I got to connect… with Mickey the Idiot-and-fellow-reject. We’re on the same side and together we’ll fight for the day that you and the Doctor reunite.”
Rose laughs a little at the thought of Martha Jones and Mickey Smith being friends, but before she can remark, Martha, too, fades away.
It’s three months before the next figure appears, and she’s unfamiliar. She has slightly wavy light-brown hair and blue eyes. She introduces herself as Adeline Reynolds, and then starts her message.
“A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world: I wish we could have met; we’d have been good friends. But know, my dear Rose Tyler, that this is hardly the end. I died saving the Doctor, and I need your help, because you and I both know he shouldn’t be by himself.”
Rose wishes she could apologize to Adeline for her sacrifice, but she too fades.
It takes months for the final figure to appear, a dark-haired, dark-eyed young woman named Clara.
“A message to the golden girl, trapped and alone in the unfather’s world: I’m so very like you, for I, too, gave him a chance; although you get all the credit for teaching him to dance. They call me the Impossible Girl, and maybe it’s a bit true, because tomorrow, Rose Tyler, he’s coming back for you.”
And Clara, impossible Clara, was right.
