great pic - film?

he throws the balloon into the air as if its the greatest joy on earth, as if he's never done that before.
perhaps he hasn't. but its great expression.

do you know him?

Of course it's film. And no I don't know him, it was just some kid a man (his dad?) was throwing a ball with.

its neat he didnt mind you taking a pic of his son. i'm often worried people's parents will think i'm a child-stalker or something, regardless if i ask them if i can take the picture first or not.

great photo. brownie points because its film

Perfect. Simple and excellent. The slight blur adds a lot to this and makes it seem more old fashioned (or something along those lines).

I like that kids sweater, too.

Beautiful shot & beautiful composition. I love the way you set up & composed the shot, it reminds me of the way someone would begin a painting for some reason. You know how when you paint or draw you can put everything exactly where you want it to be? Thats how this looks to me, you caught him in exactly the right place in the right pose, great job. As someone else has said though I think the quality could have been a nit netter, believe me I know how hard it is to shoot childern when their playing so some blurry or low quality shots or understandable. Maybe you could sharpen it a little to bring out some more deatil in the child, just a thought. i like the shot for shure though.

Yeah I might do that. I still have the negatives from this roll and I still have the raw scan. I've always wanted to try and photoshop some more sharpness.

Very well cought
He looks very amused and natural. I also like the way the ground gets darker, the blur on the top works great too.
The only thing I'd change in it, is the amount of space on top of the picture. I mean, so the space between the kid's feet and the end of photo wouldn't be larger than the one between his head and the top-end of the photo... Don't know if you understand what I mean =x
Either way, I like it alot, good work

Well if you really care enough to know the explination as to why I put the kid in the frame where I did, there is a tutorial in my gallery that shows why I did it.

nice shot, but a poor quality (for example the childs face). i like how you captured the childs emotions while playing. i'm not sure if the picture needs so much empty space but somehow it fits to the mood.

good concept, great snapshot... but the kid could be lit better ( I think a larger range of value on the subjects skin would help) and also more in focus since he's the main figure.. nice but you can improve on this.. not sure you can get that same expression again but kids are great for that...

Oh, this is a wonderful capture. I just love your use of all of that negative space-- and how perfectly the ball was captured in motion, with no blurring! The child is absolutely adorable, and what a great look you captured on his face! It's a wonderful photo indeed, and what good quality!
