Actually, jamais vu isn't a false memory (that would be deja vu, French for "already seen", which is when you feel you've already seen something before, but you really haven't, so therefore it's a false memory). Jamais vu is the opposite of deja vu.

Jamais vu means "never seen", it's when you HAVE seen something before, but for some reason you don't recognise it. It's that feeling you get when you see or write a word so many times, that you begin to think the word looks strange to you. Another example of jamais vu... you know that immediate feeling of displacement, when you open your eyes and see what appears to be strange surroundings, before your mind catches up with the fact that you slept somewhere different? Even if it's a friend's place which you know well and have seen before, you might still get that strange feeling when you wake up, it's a very short moment though.
