I love the little bits of ice on the boards. just cold enough to freeze the condensation but not the lake. and i love how dark the water is.

man. i totally dig these shots. as i do all your shots. but these i really like.
the subtleties. the calm, mirror-like lake. the reflection. the symmetry that the dock
brings to the table. and then,...the head you have hanging off the edge dangling at
the end of the rope,...i mean,...talk about dynamics! nice touch. nice touch indeed.

I love the smooth gradiant of the water, and the perfectly untouched look this entire photo has. Great contrast and muter color. The placement of the reflection of the trees balances the frame. I love this photo.

fuji s602z i believe they dont make them anymore, they replaced them with s5000's and s7000's which have their good sides but the 602's glass is better i believe

thanks dude

This is a great photo, i love the simplicity and the subtle shades of colour. Noticed the frost on the wood too, great detail. 8)

This is really good. The contrast is the key here, the contrast between that still and soft water, and that cold wood. Another nice detail is that silhouette on top, that's also very good.
Another hugely positive point of this picture is the gradient color-change between the bottom and top, from dark blue to almost white. Very good!

thanks alot, tell me what you dont like about it ?

david11 In reply to urban-khaos [2004-12-21 19:04:39 +0000 UTC]

Well, There's not really something i don't like about it, but In my opinion the border could be better. This is just a bit lame. It's a tiny white border, what do you want the border to do for the picture? Now it's a bit useless. Because the picture is a bit dark, a bigger white border would really make this stand out. Otherwise i've got no things that i don't like

You selected the "advanced critique mode" on this one. If you ask me: "what do you like the least" then I name the thing i like the least. In this case it was the border, so I let you know. It wasn't at all my intension to diss you or anything... I'm sorry if it did

Excellent capture, love the coolness of the shot.

The colour band across the middle is a little distracting, other that that, it is an excellent shot, well done.

Thanks, been just too busy with other things, working on some stock photography that hopefully will bring in a couple of extra bucks a month. That along with the wife and kids keeps me away from here and my art photography.

lovely shot again mate, the black from the bottom right really adds to the serenity of it all, giving the water basically only the middle strip which makes the overall piece darker and more atmospheric. Lovely.

like this shot immensly. The contrast btwn the jetty and the lake is great and the inclusion of the reflection is spot on. How would it look if you ditrubed the surface of the lake with say ripples or something?

urban-khaos In reply to schitz011 [2004-12-21 12:46:11 +0000 UTC]

you know, after i got home i was kicking myself while showing the shots to my girlfriend she said "that would look great with ripples" i almost cried, we were in such a hurry tho to catch all the light in as many different scenes as possible we had already been to another place see [link] for what it was like.

not half as amazing as this place tho, definatly needing to go back before it starts to get warm again.

thanks alot dude, means alot from a great landscape photographer like yourself

where the previous shot stood out for subject, this one seems to stand out more for it's colour (edges around the boards are cool).

ack, this just seems so damn lonely -- even more than the last!

great shot nonetheless.

nope not as good as the other one - i think the other one has a better tone range and better subject matter (the rope)

(well it does say advanced critique encouraged)
