Description Grohman s Cotton Mill

The building was built in 1888 for Henryk Grohman, the oldest son of the founder of the company - Traugotta. The designer of the free-standing building was probably the architect Hilary Majewski. A four-storey spinning mill was designed on an almost square plan and housed production halls supported by a system of iron poles set in 6 rows. There were also warehouses and workshops: from the west, there was a single-storey building with rooms of a steam engine, accompanied by a tall chimney (today already destroyed). The spinning room was decorated with two decorative peaks (preserved in the lower parts). A characteristic rectangular water tower that served in the lower floors of communication between floors was rising in the south elevation. It is preceded by a ground-floor building of former workshops and a concierge from the street, now transformed into a restaurant.
