Description
Fabryka Domów Stare Świdry - Houses factory Stare Swidry, Warsaw - no longer an industrial plant, which was located on Tarchomin (Białołęka), at the intersection of Myśliborska and Świderska streets.
The factory was built in the 1950s, in socialist times it produced ready-made elements of walls and ceilings, which allowed to shorten the time of construction of apartments in Warsaw. The factory was closed in the early 90s of the twentieth century, when it began to depart from the technology of the "great slab". Its area covers about 40 hectares and is located next to the exit from the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Bridge. A small part of the factory was developed by private construction companies, there is also a GSM relay station there, and in the abandoned halls its technical facilities were built by the North Bridge. The district has been planning to demolish the factory for many years, but for the time being for many reasons, above all the lack of money, it did not happen. The factory has become an attraction for many groups visiting deserted places, on the internet you can find dozens of reports on visits to the factory.
In the vicinity of the factory there was the first Tarchomin bus loop (Fabryka Domów) (now Stare Świdry), where its lines in the 1980s ended lines 101, 178, 178-bis, 378, 401 and H.
The construction of the Kępa Iberyjska housing estate, designed by a group of Spanish designers, which was to become the "Białołęka center" was planned on the factory site. Unfortunately, the factories do not belong to the district, but to private investors, so that after some time the matter has died down, and the decaying factory buildings are still standing there today.
