Thank you very much! It sort of developed on its own as I experimented with layers of the wax medium, oil pastels, and carving tools

Hi - thanks very much for the comment. Yes, it is lace in the background: I used lace to make an imprint in the wax, because this painting is made of beeswax mixed with oil paint.
Since then I've finished the painting with a layer of resin. Unfortunately, the heat from the resin process melted away some of the lace imprint. Geez! But I'll post the finished results soon.

I've just posted the finished version. It's really too bad a lot of the lace was lost in the process.... A learning moment.
