Thank you (: I used faux furs, crushed velvet for the gold areas, pvc vinyl on the big claws.
The eyes are glass fox type.

I got some basic felt, but I'm not sure that's the best material to use.

For me felt was very difficult fabric to make an entire doll. I think it depends on what type/style of toy you are making though
Suede cloth (polyester) and velboa (beanie baby fur) are good to work with, low cost and feel nice/softer than felt to touch. If you'd like me to note you good sites to buy fabrics just let me know ^^

What kind of fabric were you looking for?
I make each pattern from scratch, I construct it out of scrap fabric first - then transfer to good fabric for the finished piece (:
