Description
This is the cover for Chapter Seven of my increasingly lengthy webcomic, "Digger." Our wombat heroine had just encountered the elder of a tribe of hyena-like creatures, a hooded figure called Boneclaw Mother, and I liked her enough that I decided to give her the cover illustration."Digger" has subscription only archives, but there's several hundred pages free at the moment, plus the current page is always free on Tuesday and Thursday. Masks are probably the biggest recurring motif in "Digger"--half the characters are veiled or hooded or masked, it shows up in the myths people tell, and even the big stone heads scattered at random through the landscape are based on Balinese Barong masks. Possibly I'm a little obsessed.

I've recently discovered the comic, and I like it. It's especially refreshing to find hyenas portrayed in something other than the 'dumb vicious scavenger' role. A beautiful piece, although what else could be expected from such a great author and artist?

Woo, Boneclaw Mother! She has become a recurring character in one of our D&D games-- although in my DM's version, she's a gnoll. Still made of awesome, though.

Huh. Clearly I need to adjust my monitor... when I looked at this the first time, I didn't like it as much because the contrast between the green and the dark red background seemed too abrupt. However, now I'm looking at it on the school computers, and I can see all the lovely shades of purple and blue and orange in the background, as well as the red. That's really cool.
Gotta love Boneclaw Mother... crazy old ladies are the best.

Really, the composition, the lighting, the focus/draw of the viewer's attention to what she's doing with her hands, the colors you chose, the texturing and style of the background--everything. So much love. Honestly, it's lovely things like this that inspire me to keep drawing. Thank you.

Bone Mother isn't blind, is she? Her hood comes down so low over her face, it seems like it would impede (or completely block) her vision.

I don't know if I'm slow or what, but I finally understand why your name is "Ursulav"! I was reading through some of Digger by the way, it's interesting to see your progress- and I must say, I DO love both your foot notes (on the page and in the comic ) and the amazing wit of Terry Pratchet! You'd probably like the Barimaeus series- it's no comic, but hillarious footnotes are a regular thing.
Anyway, it's interesting to learn both more about you, your hobbies and Digger! I heard about it before but for some reason I never delved into it- it's really cool. For some reason it didn't connect at first that Digger was female (I tend to over generalize that main characters are often male, one of my faults I suppose 
I've ALWAYS admired your style, you're one of my great influences. Take that however you will, because you're also the person that I look at your art and go: "My stuff sucks- I'll never be that good!" and quit drawing for a week (like any typical teen. Sigh.) The hyena-thing (it's amusing how you are calling them that) Bone Mother looks really awesome here. It all looks very smooth and very... I can't really place it... just interesting, I suppose

I've just gotten into Digger for a few weeks now, but there's quite a rift in between the end of the pages that graphicsmash will let me read and where we are now in the story. (I believe the end of what graphicsmash let me get to involved being charged at the bridge... trolls were involved somehow, with their frighteningly dilated eyes.
If it isn't too much to ask, you you recap what happens between then and what's going on now? Who is Bone Ridges? How did it come about that Digger met the tribe itself? What are the latest developments between Digger and the leader of the Veiled? Thanks so much!
