Description
This is a shot of a Cougar (Puma concolor) that I took at the Nashville Zoo. This guy is tough to get a good shot of since he likes to stay at the back of his enclosure and because his enclosure is one of the few at the zoo with bars. This shot turned out alright though.Related content

I went in a cage with a puma and played with her before. She was raised in Texas, USA as a kitten in a tiny apartment then she was sent to a sanctuary for wild animals that cannot be released. Her name was Sheba. She acted just like a house cat. I miss Sheba.

Wow. Usually you don't want to get too close to these guys. Sheba must have been very tame.

She was. She was purring when I petted her. Her fur on her back was very coarse. However her fur on her belly was soft like a cat. She was used in a lot of movies. And you know what? She has no front claws. Poor cougar kitty.

Yeah, these guys always seem a little grumpy. Probably because he was trying to slee and all the people watching him were keeping him awake
