Well, that was certainly a weird impulse to do art.

I had been hovering around DeviantArt for a few days, taking in several different art pieces others had done. And then I went back to the very talented page of 14-bis. He's done some really amazing art, but I was most intrigued by his Paint-over pieces of characters such as Fifi la Fume.

When I woke up this morning, I felt compelled to do a paint-over based on a certain inflatable character: Mammoth Mutt, from the short-lived cartoon, "Krypto the Superdog." My impulses have largely been to do art that hasn't been done before, and given there hasn't been much great art on the inflatable pink dog, I thought I'd do this one.

It's been quite awhile since I tackled a project like this, though I wish I had expanded the art piece a little bigger than what it is. The goal was to simulate a furry texture from the screen grab, as well as make the other pieces look dimensional, without lines (well, with the exception of her smile). One area that I was most intrigued by, were the cylindrical folds on her skin. Amazingly, I actually figured out a better way to go about this after I walked away for a few hours and came back, which definitely helped!

I know there's definitely some other pieces I'd love to do a paint-over, and maybe even a story in mind with Mammoth Mutt and Krypto (seriously, why are there only like 3 fan-shippings online!?).

As well, thanks to 14-bis, for his art that got my brain thinking again, on how to proceed forward. Now we'll see if I can churn out anything more.
