Description The Dark Aether never had a clear logic in mind. Throughout her journey in this harrowing dimension, Samantha Maxis would find herself in an abandoned German castle in the mountains, or a deserted Japanese swamp. This time, however, after hours of exploring the woods, she spotted an abandoned campsite, with several corpses strewn about.

The corpses were dressed in World War 2-era uniforms. Prisoners of war, perhaps, as they wore Russian, American, German, and Japanese uniforms. If they were attacked, there would have been signs of a battle. No, they were taken by surprise. Bottles and cups laid nearby most of the corpses. Smelling the residue on a cup, she realized they were poisoned, possibly by the Russian soldier laying face first in the dirt, as he didn’t have a cup next to him. Most likely he poisoned his compatriots to ease their suffering.

She glanced at his corpse. He sported a flight cap and goggles. Perfect. Turning him over, she felt a cold shiver down her spine. There was something familiar about him. Whichever sort of face he had is all shriveled up into a grey crocodile skin-like texture. However, whatever life he lived has long gone past. For now, he and every other corpse could help her survive for much longer.

After cleaning the lens on her goggles, she spotted a katana tied to the corpse of a Japanese soldier. She partially unsheathed the blade from its cover to cut apart the rope that tied to the katana to the soldier. Looking at the Japanese inscription on the blade, it read "Demon flesh eater" and "Muramasa." She chuckled to herself. The blade has most likely eaten the flesh of the Dark Aether's "demons."

The light sound of a tree branch snapping perked her back to reality. She was being followed by a pack of hellhounds.

She let out a smirk. A cruel twist of fate for the blade's legacy. If it were truly crafted by the legendary swordsmith Muramasa, he would be in approval, especially that it will now have a chance to feed again.
