I've noticed something regarding fanfiction. Is it just me, or is it getting harder and harder to find good ones? You've got your stereotypical Sasunaru or Narusasu, whichever you prefer. You've got HP pairings. You've got the luvly Mary Sue who gets with everyone the troll-writer wishes. Theodore Sturgeon LIED!!! He says 90% is crud, while 10% is good. It seems more like 3% to me...Naruto is Kishimoto's

Inuyasha is Takahashi's

So true. There are fanfics that are quite good but they always seem to be for the wrong pairing, hard to find or I've already read them. I keep wondering if FF net just hate me in particular, but apparently not, so yay for commiseration, I guess. XD

Ugh, I totally agree with you! I wish it was a whole lot more than just 10%... well, yeah, like you said, more like 3%.
Plus, I really hate it when people make pairings that are just.... uh, really inappropriate. WHICH is why I try to write some actually decent FFs so that people wouldn't be stuck with terrible lovey-duvy stories (not that i think romance is bad, just I'd rather there be some more action along with it) or terrible ideas that make me want to

i don't no, i've read quite a few good ones myself. of course, it's all a matter of opinion. what you may not like, someone else may like. just personal opinions are what make stories good or bad. though cliche things like this comic suggests, yea. pretty bad. XD

i dont really care for overpowered characters, but I do enjoy characters with apathy towards love... Like Luffy!!! ;D lol i dont know why, it seems to make stories better. a little romance on the side is fine, but not when its a defining point in EVERYTHING -____-

TV tropes has a reccomendation's page for several fandoms. Naruto, Sailor Moon, Doctor Who, etc.
Also, are you sure the Twilight lines aren't actual lines from the book?

Also, I believe my standards went up after reading some very good fanfiction stories.
There were several that were better than some printed books I read.
An example would be a pretty old HP AU "Saving Connor" which is a pretty often used twin theme which was told from an interesting perspective.

Yes, sometimes I wonder how fanfics are not getting the recognition of some printed books. The amazing ones are right there for the picking.

I'm a fanfiction writer myself and though I never made the scenarios that you mentioned, I did make a couple of mistakes myself (which were quite some time ago (years?), but are still fresh in my mind 
Reading this, it makes me laugh and it reminds me to never do such thing again

i once read an amazing sasusaku fic that was breathtakingly beautiful, with sakura being a schizophrenic and sasuke having small, tiny wings and ino being an abusive step-sister who's rich family died and it incorporated a LOT of poetry and it was amazing. and i have forgotten it's name. orz
