Here's my personal opinion about most of the crossover events released by Marvel.
Amazing: Here are those stories that are the peak in quality whenever we’re talking about Marvel crossover events, they managed to make everything the events in good category and improve it, since all of these events actually managed to leave their mark on the Marvel Universe, by establishing great concepts with a terrific execution, bringing something new on the table, reviving some elements that were mostly forgotten before the events took place, and being memorable stories that were also very successful to the point that have stayed in popular culture doesn’t hurt (and unlike Civil War of House of M, these stories actually managed to stay faithful to continuity and respect their characters (well, for the most part)9. I definitely recommend them for a good reading.
Good: While not perfect, I actually like these stories, by having awesome moments, giving nearly all important characters the spotlight, establishing a good execution of concepts that manage to give variety to the Marvel Universe, managing to spawn a ton of books with varied quality (most of them are good though) and staying faithful to the current runs their taking place in, however, the reasons I don’t consider them top tier are mostly the same that the neutral category, with a few exceptions, especially since not all of these events had to follow a butchered status quo.
Neutral: I consider them to be “meh” overall, while I’ll admit that they have some good moments, a few of them respect the continuity, gave spotlight to less famous and less well known characters, and establish books and runs that were mediocre and forgettable at worst, but good and underrated at best, with all of that being said, they didn’t fulfilled their potential by butchering some story elements thanks to stupid decisions (I blame editorial for that), a few of these events having to follow the butchered status quo established by the bad events, while those who where following the status quo of decent events could manage to lived up to the quality, and overall having some moments that made me wonder if it was worth it to apply them by long term. However, I’ll admit that with all their virtues they are way better than those who are in lower categories.
Bad: Well, if I have to give credit to any of these stories, is that most of them had at least a few decent moments, they have decent concepts that deserved a way better execution, there were some good titles derived from these events, and not all the runs that got involved got derailed.
That being said, these stories have a messy narrative, involve derailing most of the characters in order to continue the story, as a matter of fact, in all the stories in this category, at least one character has to do a morronic decision so the main plot continues, and don't get me started on how they all affected the status quo of the main books, well, at least until the next event anyway. However, for me personally, there are three awful elements that make me consider the lowest points of these stories, first off, nearly everyone affect the reputation of some important characters, derailing them not only as heroes, but also as characters, second, the treatment of b-c list characters, when they weren’t use as cheap canon fodder, they were derailed into being useless idiots acting completely different from their usual selves, and third and arguably worst of all, these stories mostly ignored the source material for the sake of trying to inject the stakes of these stories into the messy marvel universe, to say that it derailed the continuity and consistency would be an understatement.
Uncannily awful: What can I say that it hasn't said before, these pieces of crap are easily some of the worst material ever made by Marvel refering us to comics, by being stupid, nonsense, incohirent stories that butcher nearly everyone involved in, resulting in a character assassination story that actually manages to affect the regular book, resulting in the main run being involved in a dreadful story and being dragged out of its current narrative, resulting in a dork age that makes even wondering if it was worth it to make said event in the first place.
Haven't read yet: Pretty much self explanatory.
