Description I love this theme. White tiger/west, red bird/south, blue dragon/east, and black turtle/north.

The Chinese four directions, mythologically speaking.

I am planning to add some fabric pastels for highlights and definition. These four banners were painted on flat crepe silk with Setasilk and Dye-na-flow silk paints, using water-based resist to contain the colors inside of shapes. It is basically watercolor painting on silk.

These took me about 8 hours to do; I did them all in one day.

Here's a previous set I did with the same theme: [link]

Well it sure looks like you got the element associated with each animal correct.

Ugh.. doing so much research today about Chinese mythology to get a better feel of how accurate my drawing will be. Enjoying it but... eating up my time.

*sigh* but you spend 8 hours on that so.

Wow, these look great! I have no idea about the process of this sort of thing (but I have a better idea thanks to your description). In any case, the banners look impressive

These are wonderful, even better than the original ones I saw I think. Nice work as always.

Thanks! It is all due to you teaching me watercolor and acrylic techniques - without doing that mural and other projects with you, I couldn't have done these banners! You are wonderful!! Hey, my shading is getting better, isn't it?

I'm not so sure I deserve that much credit, but thank you. Yes your shading is getting very good, you rock!!!
